Psychological therapy & Neurorehabilitation for Children & Young People in West Kent

Hi, I’m Alex Kimber and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I completed my doctoral training at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology in 2019 and have worked in a wide range of settings throughout my career. I now live in Tunbridge Wells and offer psychological therapy and neurorehabilitation to those living in West Kent as well as offering virtual sessions.

I specialise in working with children and young people with physical health conditions, neurodevelopmental conditions and learning needs. I am trained in a variety of therapy modalities and enjoy working flexibly and creatively within these. My sessions primarily draw on principles from ACT, narrative therapy and CBT to support individuals. This focuses on helping individuals with understanding their difficulties, finding strategies to support them and working towards living a rich and fulfilling life in line with their values. I find working with families and the systems around young people incredibly useful and always try to hold this holistic perspective in mind in my work.

I also conduct assessments to support individuals to understand their specific learning profile. Neuropsychology assessments can be useful in determining intellect, academic abilities, specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia), and memory and attention concerns. The assessment informs tailored supports and strategies to be put in place, including potential adjustments to examination conditions.
